Health fanatic, physical and spiritual!

I have to admit, I am a health fanatic.  For years I have enjoyed good nutrition and exercise.  My motivations have been to maintain a better health for the LORD, and for my family.  The bible teaches that my body is a temple, I believe I should treat it as such.  I also want to make sure I don't hinder my health and place a premature burden upon my family.

Health and fitness is a trillion dollar industry and it is rapidly on the rise.  People desire better health and fitness like no other time.  Why?  Well sadly many are motivated by looks.  They desire the magazine photo beach body that others will find attractive and desire.

In this pursuit for the perfect beach body, people strictly discipline themselves in good diet and exercise.  It becomes a daily addictive routine.  The better the results the more dedicated they become.

Physical fitness becomes a top priority in many lives.  It literally can become an addiction, taking precedence over most other things in life.  But how long will it last?   When will you get sick or injured and no longer be able to maintain this routine?  What have you really gained by making health and fitness a top priority?

Our physical health and outward beauty is only temporary at best.  Should we take care of ourselves physically?  Absolutely, our bodies are called a temple for the Holy Spirit.  I am convinced our spiritual health and fitness should be top priority.

What kind of christian would you be if you spiritual health was an addiction.   How different would you appear if your spiritual diet and exercise was as disciplined and driven by a trillion dollar industry as physical health is?

My commitment and discipline to my spiritual health has become priceless to me, making a trillion dollar industry seem like pennies.  My physical health will fade no matter what.  My spiritual health will last an eternity.

1 Timothy 4:8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
