Seeing Is Believing

If you wanted to see someone in person, you would have to go where they were.   As your journey began, you for sure would want to know how to get there.  But suppose you had no idea.  It would be a “Where’s Waldo kind of search.”  Maybe you had some idea but never did find them.   How long would you search before giving up?  How far would you go? At what point would you decide that person did not exist?

There are people all over this world following me on Facebook and this blog.  Most have never seen me in person, but yet they believe I exist.  Why do they believe I am real? Is it just because I post blogs, statuses on Facebook?  What kind of evidence is that? Is it really good evidence?  If it is, then why is it such good evidence? People place so much credibility in social media.  But yet social media can be the most deceptive avenue out there.  You can be anyone you want to and most people will believe it.  You can say anything you want to and most people accept it.  Honestly, if you really want to know if someone is real you have to meet face to face.

When it comes to God, people expect so much more evidence of His existence.  People refuse to see God for who He is and refuse to listen to what He says.  Why is this so?  It cannot be distance, because God is omnipresent.  He is everywhere.  It is not because God is ignoring you, He is omniscient.  He knows everything.  It cannot be that God has not done anything, He is omnipotent.  He is all powerful.  If all this is true, then why do some people not see Him, why do some people not hear Him, and why do some people not feel Him?

The answer is sin.  Sin is what comes between you and God.  The more sin you have in your life, the less you will see, hear and experience God.  Sin blurs our eyes, deafens our ears, and numbs our sensation.  Even with all that, people still want to see God, hear God and feel God.  In our sin, we want to see, hear and feel Him according to our sinful expectations.  People want God to bless them in their sin.  People have placed themselves so far away from God and yet expect Him to still reveal himself where He is not.

Perspective is huge when it comes to the evidence of God.  Maybe you are in this place of darkness, a place where you know God would not be pleased, and a life that is as far from God as possible.  Maybe you want to believe, yet you have to see, hear and feel before you agree.  And since you can’t see, hear of feel Him you don’t believe.  What if what you were experiencing is the absence of God?  Maybe God has allowed you to be in a place where you are without Him.  You are without Him because you have replaced Him with the ways of this world.  Maybe your sin has blinded your eyes, deafened your ears and numbed your senses.
If you want to See God, Hear God and Feel God, you are going to have to go where He is.  You are going to have to walk away from sin and walk towards His presence.  When you do, you will believe because you have experienced Him firsthand you will see Him face to face.

The damage and devastation form Hurricane Katrina was
was unbelievable, even after I saw it first hand.

Matthew 13:14-17
In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: " 'You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.15For this people's heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.'16But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.17For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.

May my life be the proof and evidence of His love!
